Southwestern Selects
5July 17, 2012 by Kim Perkinson
Inspired by my last post, “Vibrant Tucson”, I share with you today some of my favorite Southwestern selections.
Ranging from the 16th century to the present, the above represent items hand crafted in Spain, Mexico and by Navajo artists in the Southwestern United States. The painting of the blue caballo, or Spanish horse, is a 1930s original by Mexican artist Chucho Reyes. The brightly colored mosaic glass box is from the 1940s. It’s finished with an Aztec brass medallion on top. The neutral colored Navajo wool rug is circa 1900s. It was hand-woven and constructed without the use of any dyes. These and the above are just a sampling of the history and the beauty of the Southwest.
