Fall Finds
2September 21, 2012 by Kim Perkinson
In anticipation of the Autumn season, I share with you today some of my favorite “Fall Finds”. Growing up in North Carolina, my Fall season was blessed with family, friends, football by the fireplace, great food cooking in the Kitchen and the beautiful colors of the Carolina Autumn foliage outside.
Ranging from the 1700s to the present, the above represent the rich warm colors of Fall and come to us from skilled craftsman in the United States, Italy, Brazil, Denmark and Japan, among others. The oil on canvas is by John G C Burnett, a Scottish painter of landscapes, figure subjects and Surrealist works both in oil and watercolor. The painted tramp art wall mirror with exceptional carvings of birds, hearts & a butterfly is from the Southern United States. Hidden behind the mirror is a secret compartment. The set of sculptural wooden trees are from the 1960s. The tops slide off to reveal jewelry compartments, two in the small tree and four in the large.
